Choir members & joining us

We are a friendly group of people who share a common love of singing and entertaining others through our music. Not all of us can read music, but we all help each other, and after extensive rehearsals we all know what we're doing! A jade green uniform blouse is provided for ladies, which is worn with black skirt/trousers and jacket, and our gentlemen wear a black suit with white shirt, plus a jade green bow tie. Music is also provided, and we use black folders for concerts. Members pay a subscription to be in Village Harmony, which means we can donate more of our concert income to good causes than we would otherwise be able to. At the moment there are 6 gentlemen, 3 alto ladies and 8 soprano singers. We rehearse every Monday evening from 7.30pm in Sturton-le-Steeple Village Hall. Please contact us if you are interested in becoming a member - we would love to hear from you.

Our Musical Director

Mrs Judith Corker is our Musical Director, and has been since 2003 when she took over from Mrs Beryl Andrew, who founded Village Harmony in the early 1990's.

Judith chooses our repetoire and rearranges it to suit our voices, adding some lovely harmonies to the music. She leads us in rehearsals and conducts our concerts. She is also involved with other choirs and music groups in both Retford and Newark, and was a music teacher at local primary schools.

Our accompanist

Miss June Taylor-Rabjohn joined Village Harmony in January 1999 and has been their piano accompanist and deputy Musical Director ever since. Recently she has taken on the role of Concert Secretary as well. June studied piano and pipe organ, and through the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music has attained Grade 8 in both instruments. She often performs solo pieces in concerts as well as accompanying the choir at all their rehearsals and concerts.
